DANTE ALIGHIERI
Poet prose writer, literary theorist, Italian philosopher and political thinker. He is considered one of the most outstanding figures of world literature.
Born in Florence in 1265, in a family that belonged to the gentry. According to his own testimony, the most important event of his youth was known, in 1274, Beatrice, the woman he loved and who exalted as a symbol of divine grace in their works. There is no evidence they got to know each other more than superficially. Scholars have identified the muse of Dante with a Florentine lady who died in 1290, barely twenty years.

The New Life, written between 1292 and 1293, clearly shows the influence of troubadour love poetry (courtly love) of Provence, and is the highlight of the dolce stil nuovo, the name given to poetry in the vernacular of the Florence of those years. This book manages to overcome the Provencal tradition it describes the poet's amorous feelings so sublime and idealistic.
